Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media loose parts terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan pada anak kelompok B di TK Aisyiyah 47 Surabaya. Membaca permulaan merupakan salah satu kemampuan dasar literasi yang penting dikembangkan sejak usia dini, karena menjadi fondasi dalam proses belajar selanjutnya. Media loose parts merupakan media pembelajaran yang fleksibel, berbasis benda-benda lepas seperti : tutup botol bekas, manik-manik, biji-bijian, batu-batuan, stik es krim, dan lain sebagainya yang dapat dimanipulasi anak sesuai kreativitasnya, sehingga diharapkan dapat meningkatkan minat dan keterampilan membaca permulaan anak usia dini. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan desain one group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian adalah 12 anak kelompok B TK Aisyiyah 47 Surabaya. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan observasi dan dokumentasi, sedangkan instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar observasi kemampuan membaca permulaan yang meliputi aspek mengenal huruf vokal (a,i,u,e,o), huruf konsonan (b-z), membaca kata, serta melengkapi kata sederhana. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test untuk mengetahui perbedaan signifikan sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan yang signifikan pada kemampuan membaca permulaan anak setelah diterapkannya media loose parts dalam kegiatan pembelajaran. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai rata-rata posttest yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan pretest, serta nilai signifikansi (0,02) < 0,05. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa media loose parts berpengaruh positif terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan pada anak kelompok B di TK Aisyiyah 47 Surabaya.

This research aims to determine an effect of loose parts media on reading skill at the beginning of group B children at Kindergarten of Aisyiyah 47 Surabaya. Reading skill is one of the basic literacy skills that is important to be developed from an early age. Since it is a foundation for the next learning process. Loose parts media is a flexible learning medium that based on loose objects such as: using bottle caps, beads, grains, stones, ice cream sticks, and so on. It can be manipulated by children according to their creativity that is expected to increase interest and reading skill in early childhood. The research method uses quantitative with a one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects are 12 children of group B of Aisyiyah Kindergarten 47 Surabaya. The data collection technique uses observation and documentation. The instrument is an observation sheet on initial reading skill which includes aspects of recognizing vowels (a, i, u, e, o), consonant letters (b-z), reading words, and completing simple words. The data are analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test to determine significant differences before and after treatment. The results showed a significant improvement in children's early reading skill after the implementation of loose parts media in learning activities. This is evidenced by a higher average posttest score than the pretest, as well as a significance value (0.02) < 0.05. Thus, it can be concluded that loose parts media has a positive effect on the initial reading skill of group B children at Kindergarten of Aisyiyah 47 Surabaya.
