Abstract
Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh video TikTok terhadap kemampuan mendengarkan bahasa Inggris siswa kelas VIII di SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surabaya. Materi mendengarkan tradisional seringkali kurang autentik dan gagal memotivasi siswa. Dengan menggunakan desain kuantitatif pra-eksperimental, tes mendengarkan diberikan sebelum dan setelah intervensi pembelajaran berbasis TikTok. Hasil menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan dalam pemahaman mendengarkan siswa, dengan skor rata-rata tes pascaintervensi jauh lebih tinggi daripada skor tes pra-intervensi. Analisis peningkatan lebih lanjut menunjukkan tingkat peningkatan yang moderat pada sebagian besar peserta. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa video TikTok dapat menjadi alternatif yang efektif, menarik, dan berpusat pada siswa untuk meningkatkan keterampilan mendengarkan bahasa Inggris.

This study investigates the effect of TikTok videos on the English listening comprehension of eighth-grade students at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surabaya. Traditional listening materials often lack authenticity and fail to motivate students. Utilizing a pre-experimental quantitative design, listening tests were administered before and after TikTokbased learning interventions. Results indicate a significant improvement in students' listening comprehension, with average post-test scores notably higher than pre-test scores. Gain analysis further reveals a moderate level of improvement across most participants. These findings suggest that TikTok videos serve as an effective, engaging, and student-centered alternative for enhancing English listening skills
