Abstract

Latar Belakang: Kualitas tidur memiliki peran penting dalam menunjang fungsi kognitif termasuk konsentrasi belajar. Mahasiswa kedokteran memiliki beban akademik tinggi yang berpotensi mengganggu pola tidur.
Tujuan: Mengetahui hubungan antara kualitas tidur dengan konsentrasi belajar mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya. Metode: Penelitian kuantitatif observasional dengan desain cross-sectional pada 81 responden dari angkatan 2021 dan 2022. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) untuk menilai kualitas tidur dan Student Learning Concentration Questionnaire Indonesia Version (SLCQ-I) untuk menilai konsentrasi belajar.
Hasil: Hasil menunjukkan bahwa 60,5% responden memiliki kualitas tidur buruk, dan 37% memiliki konsentrasi belajar rendah. Analisis bivariat menunjukkan adanya hubungan bermakna antara kualitas tidur dengan konsentrasi belajar (p<0,05).
Kesimpulan: kualitas tidur buruk berkaitan dengan rendahnya konsentrasi belajar. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi dasar bagi institusi pendidikan dan pemangku kebijakan dalam merancang intervensi yang komprehensif guna meningkatkan kualitas tidur mahasiswa sebagai upaya peningkatan konsentrasi dan performa akademik.

Background: Sleep quality plays a crucial role in supporting cognitive functions, including learning concentration. Medical students often experience high academic demands, which can potentially disrupt their sleep patterns. Objective: To examine the relationship between sleep quality and learning concentration among medical students at the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya.
Methods: This study employed a quantitative observational method with a cross- sectional design, involving 81 respondents from the 2021 and 2022 academic cohorts. Instruments used included the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) to assess sleep quality and the Student Learning Concentration Questionnaire – Indonesian Version (SLCQ-I) to evaluate learning concentration. Results: Findings revealed that 60.5% of respondents had poor sleep quality, and 37% demonstrated low learning concentration. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between sleep quality and learning concentration (p < 0.05).
Conclusion: Poor sleep quality is associated with lower learning concentration. This study may serve as a foundation for educational institutions and policymakers to design comprehensive interventions aimed at improving students' sleep quality, thereby enhancing concentration and academic performance.
