Abstract

Indonesia menghasilkan limbah tempurung kelapa dalam jumlah besar yang berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai arang. Namun, proses pengayakan arang secara manual kurang efisien dan menghasilkan ukuran partikel yang tidak seragam. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan mesin pengayak dengan kapasitas dan kekuatan struktur yang memadai.
Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang dan menganalisis kekuatan mesin pengayak arang tempurung kelapa tipe silinder horizontal berkapasitas 120 kg/jam. Metode penelitian meliputi perhitungan teoritis berdasarkan teori elemen mesin untuk menentukan kebutuhan daya, torsi, dan dimensi komponen utama, serta pemodelan dan simulasi Finite Element Analysis (FEA) menggunakan Autodesk Inventor guna mengevaluasi tegangan Von Mises, deformasi, dan faktor keamanan.
Hasil perhitungan menunjukkan kebutuhan daya sebesar 0,329 HP sehingga digunakan motor 1/2 HP. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan tegangan maksimum pada rangka sebesar 9,267 MPa dengan faktor keamanan 15, sedangkan pada poros tegangan maksimum sebesar 173,755 MPa dengan faktor keamanan minimum 2,01. Bantalan menunjukkan tegangan maksimum 27,162 MPa dengan faktor keamanan minimum 9,205. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, rancangan mesin dinyatakan aman secara struktural dan layak digunakan.

Indonesia produces large amounts of coconut shell waste that has the potential to be used as charcoal. However, the manual charcoal screening process is inefficient and produces particles of inconsistent size. Therefore, a screening machine with adequate capacity and structural strength is needed.
This study aims to design and analyze the strength of a horizontal cylinder-type coconut shell charcoal screening machine with a capacity of 120 kg/hour. The research methods included theoretical calculations based on machine element theory to determine the power, torque, and dimensions of the main components, as well as modeling and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulation using Autodesk Inventor to evaluate Von Mises stress, deformation, and safety factors.
The calculation results showed a power requirement of 0.329 HP, so a 1/2 HP motor was used. The simulation results show a maximum stress on the frame of 9.267 MPa with a safety factor of 15, while on the shaft, the maximum stress is 173.755 MPa with a minimum safety factor of 2.01. The bearings show a maximum stress of 27.162 MPa with a minimum safety factor of 9.205. Based on these results, the machine design is declared structurally safe and suitable for use.
