Abstract
Perkembangan bahasa pada anak usia 7 tahun merupakan tahapan krusial dalam pembentukan kemampuan komunikasi, kognitif, dan sosial. Generasi Alpha, yang lahir setelah tahun 2010, tumbuh dalam lingkungan digital yang unik, memunculkan pola pemerolehan bahasa yang berbeda dari generasi sebelumnya. Tesis ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perkembangan kosakata anak Generasi Alpha usia 7 tahun, mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor yang memengaruhinya, serta menentukan tingkat kemahiran kosakata mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain studi kasus tunggal pada subjek bernama Habrizi Syauqi Multazam, anak laki-laki berusia 7 tahun yang teridentifikasi sebagai Generasi Alpha. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi partisipatif dan wawancara tidak terstruktur.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Habrizi memiliki perkembangan kosakata yang pesat dan kontekstual, yang dipengaruhi oleh kombinasi interaksi lingkungan konvensional (keluarga, sekolah) dan paparan intensif terhadap teknologi digital. Kosakatanya mencakup istilah-istilah finansial dan teknologi (―ATM‖, ―password‖, ―scan Qris‖), pengetahuan sains dari konten digital (―Merkurius‖, ―galaksi‖, ―astronot‖), kesadaran sosial-politik yang diserap dari media (―McD itu pendukung Israel‖, ―Boykot McD‖), terminologi teknologi dan gaming (―upgrade‖, ―update‖, ―Roblox‖, ―event‖), konsep finansial lanjutan (―perintis‖, ―pewaris‖, ―bitcoin‖), serta istilah-istilah lain yang mencerminkan minatnya terhadap tren konsumsi, perawatan diri, fenomena alam, dan aspirasi karir.
Temuan kualitatif mengindikasikan luasnya perbendaharaan leksikal fundamental, penguasaan kosakata spesifik berbasis minat (terutama dari game dan aplikasi edukatif), kontribusi kosakata dari aplikasi edukatif dan konten video, kemampuan menggunakan kosakata dalam konteks komunikasi yang lebih kompleks, serta kemampuan bercerita dan narasi yang berkembang. Habrizi juga menunjukkan penggunaan bahasa untuk bertanya dan meminta informasi, serta kemampuan mengekspresikan emosi dan merencanakan kegiatan. Tesis ini menyimpulkan bahwa perkembangan kosakata anak Generasi Alpha usia 7 tahun merupakan hasil interaksi kompleks antara faktor internal dan eksternal, di mana lingkungan digital memainkan peran signifikan dalam memperkaya dan membentuk perbendaharaan kata mereka.

Language development in 7-year-old children is a crucial stage in the development of communication, cognitive, and social skills. Alpha Generation, born after 2010, grew up in a unique digital environment, resulting in distinct language acquisition patterns from previous generations. This thesis aims to describe the vocabulary development of 7-year-old Alpha Generation children, identify the factors influencing it, and determine their vocabulary proficiency levels. This study used qualitative methods with a single-case study design on Habrizi Syauqi Multazam, a 7-year-old boy identified as Alpha Generation. Data were collected through participant observation and unstructured interviews.
The results indicated that Habrizi exhibits rapid and contextual vocabulary development, influenced by a combination of interactions within conventional environments (family, school) and intensive exposure to digital technology. His vocabulary includes financial and technological terms (“ATM,” “password,” “scan QRIS”), scientific knowledge from digital content (“Mercury,” “galaxy,” “astronaut”), socio-political awareness absorbed from the media (“McD’s supports Israel,” “Boycott McD’s”), technology and gaming terminology (“upgrade,” “update,” “Roblox,” “event”), advanced financial concepts (“pioneer,” “heir,” “bitcoin”), and other terms reflecting his interests in consumption trends, self-care, natural phenomena, and career aspirations.
The qualitative findings indicated a broad fundamental lexical repertoire, mastery of interest-specific vocabulary (especially from games and educational apps), vocabulary contributions from educational apps and video content, the ability to use vocabulary in more complex communication contexts, and developing storytelling and narrative skills. Habrizi also demonstrates the use of language to ask and request information, as well as the ability to express emotions and plan activities. This thesis concluded that the vocabulary development of 7-year-old Alpha Generation children is the result of a complex interaction between internal and external factors, with the digital environment playing a significant role in enriching and shaping their vocabulary.
