Abstract

Bullying behavior in SMK (vocational high schools) remains a serious issue, as evidenced by a preliminary survey at SMK Negeri 1 Gending showing that 65.32% of students fell into the high-level bullying category. This phenomenon is suspected to be linked to permissive parenting styles and a lack of constructive peer support. This study aimed to determine the relationship between permissive parenting, peer support, and bullying behavior among adolescents. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, involving 322 students from SMK Negeri 1 Gending selected via purposive sampling. Data were collected using Likert scales and analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results indicated that permissive parenting and peer support jointly exert a significant influence on bullying behavior (F = 480.807; p = 0.000), with a coefficient of determination (R-squared) of 0.751; this means the two variables explain 75.1% of the variation in bullying behavior, while the remaining 24.9% is influenced by factors outside the scope of this study. These findings underscore the crucial role of family and peer environments in shaping adolescent bullying behavior and provide a foundation for developing school-based bullying prevention programs.
