Revitalisasi Wisata Pantai Kulon Kenjeran sebagai Aquatic Sport dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Kontekstual di Surabaya

Kota Surabaya sebagai kota metropolitan terbesar kedua di Indonesia memiliki potensi pesisir yang besar, khususnya di kawasan Kenjeran yang dikenal sebagai salah satu destinasi wisata bahari. Namun, seiring waktu, beberapa bagian kawasan seperti Pantai Kulon mengalami penurunan fungsi dan terabaikan selama lebih dari tiga dekade. Padahal, kawasan ini sebelumnya berperan aktif sebagai pusat kegiatan olahraga dan rekreasi masyarakat. Berdasarkan kondisi tersebut, diperlukan upaya revitalisasi melalui perancangan Aquatic Sport di kawasan Pantai Kulon Kenjeran yang mampu menghidupkan kembali potensi wisata dan sosial-ekonomi masyarakat pesisir. Perancangan ini mengusung Pendekatan Arsitektur Kontekstual yang menekankan keselarasan antara desain bangunan dengan iklim tropis pesisir, budaya lokal, serta prinsip keberlanjutan melalui efisiensi energi, pengelolaan air, dan pemanfaatan material ramah lingkungan. Dengan demikian, rancangan Aquatic Sport diharapkan tidak hanya menjadi ikon wisata dan olahraga air baru di Surabaya, tetapi juga ruang publik yang inklusif dan adaptif terhadap konteks sosial-lingkungan masyarakat pesisir Kenjeran.

The city of Surabaya, as the second largest metropolitan city in Indonesia, has significant coastal potential, particularly in the Kenjeran area, which is known as one of the marine tourism destinations. However, over time, some parts of the area, such as Pantai Kulon, have experienced a decline in function and have been neglected for more than three decades. In fact, this area previously played an active role as a center for sports and recreational activities for the community. Based on these conditions, revitalization efforts are needed through the design of aquatic sports in the Pantai Kulon Kenjeran area, which can revive the tourism and socio-economic potential of the coastal community. This design adopts a contextual architecture approach that emphasized harmony between building design and the coastal tropical climate, local culture, and sustainability principles through energy efficiency, water management, and the use of environmentally friendly materials. Thus, the design of the Aquatic Sport is expected to not only become a new icon of tourism and water sports in Surabaya but also an inclusive and adaptive public space for the socio-environmental context of the Kenjeran coastal community.
