Nowadays, Information and communication technology (ICT) has grown in revolutionizing education. Many innovations on ICT for solutions that can improve teaching and learning inputs, processes and outcomes. One of ICT in teaching and learning process is called online learning. In academic year 2020, in Indonesia have already used online learning in many level in educational because the world had a problems of Covid-19 viruses. This research is focused on higher education especially in English language teaching. This study discusses about students’ and lecturers’ perspectives on the implementation online learning ongoing Covid-19 pandemic era. The subjects of this research were 49 of students in academic year 2017, 2018, and 2019 and 10 of lecturers in English education department major at university in Surabaya. This research aims to investigate the perspectives of students and lecturers on the implementation of online learning and to find out the problems faced by students and lecturers during online teaching ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in ELT in English education department major. This study used a survey design (quantitative method) with used a questionnaires and interview for the instrument. The finding and result of this research has shown that students and lecturers of English education department hold negative perspectives on the implementation online learning during Covid-19 pandemic. Despite that the students and lecturers has pros and cons on online learning.
