Abstract
This paper discusses about the effectiveness of using Powtoon animation videos of eight grade at SMPN 2 Surabaya The data that the researcher taken from SMPN 2 Surabaya which divided into control and experiment class has been calculated on SPSS 24. The data shows that the result of normal and homogen which mean the data has difference variances between pre-test and post-test. according to the table 4.1the median from both classes has difference significant score where 60,75 for experiment and 67,78 for control. that the reason the researcher choose VIII C as a experiment VIII B as a control class. t-test to measure whether the data is effective or not. from on 4.9 table of independence t-test source the significant score is 0.000 means that lower than 0.05 as a standart significant. the results show is effective of using powtoon video animation. Ngain. on table 4.10 to measure indicate the percentage between experiment and control class. there on significant differences between those 69% for experiment and 50% for control class. it means powtoon animation videos is recommended to implement on students reading. the implication of this study on student reading is the student understand easily and able to read using animation powtoon than textbook.
