An Analysis On Liberal Feminism Values Of The Main Character In The Film Captain Marvel 2019

This thesis focused on the main female character Carol Danvers, a woman from Earth who had lost her memory. This study focused on the script for the 2019 Captain Marvel film written by Anna Boden. There were two problem formulation in this study. The first was how Carol's characteristics were based on the film's script. Furthermore, the second question was how the values of liberal feminism were reflected in Carol's character.
In this study, the researcher applied M.Boggs' characterization theory to analyze its characteristics of Carol. The author also used the Feminist approach from Wendell and Alisson Jaggar to analyze the liberal feminism values in Carol's character.
The analysis of this study found that Carol had seven characteristics. Those were curious, intelligent, brave, strong, optimistic, heroic, and independent. The second is how liberal feminism is contained in Carol's character. She fought for women to be able to follow their choices and desires. She struggled to get freedom and equal opportunities, to get equal education, and think rationally.
