Abstract
Masalah : Stres akademik berkorelasi dengan gangguan mental seperti depresi, kecemasan, dan masalah fisik maupun akademik. Mahasiswa kedokteran sangat rentan terhadap stres tinggi akibat beban akademik yang berat, persaingan ketat, dan waktu belajar yang panjang. Ujian seperti OSCE yang menilai keterampilan klinis mahasiswa juga menjadi sumber stres yang memengaruhi emosi dan kinerja. Salah satu faktor penting untuk menghadapi ujian ini adalah ego strength dan kecerdasan emosional. Pada mahasiswa semester 5 Fakultas Kedokteran, stres meningkat karena beban akademik yang berat, SKS tinggi, fasilitas pembelajaran yang kurang mendukung serta tuntutan penyusunan Tugas Akhir. Tujuan : Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara ego strength dan kecerdasan emosional dengan performa keterampilan klinis pada blok Imunohematologi mahasiswa preklinik Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya Tahun Ajaran 2024/2025. Metode : Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan desain observasional analitik dan pendekatan cross-sectional. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk stres akademik (MMPI-1) dan kecerdasan emosional (TEIQUe-SF). Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh mahasiswa preklinik angkatan 2022 Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya, yaitu 94 mahasiswa dengan minimal sampel sebanyak 49 mahasiswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan metode total sampling. Hasil Penelitian : Sebagian besar responden memiliki tingkat ego strength rendah, yaitu sebanyak 44 responden. Mayoritas responden memiliki tingkat kecerdasan emosional sedang, yaitu sebanyak 51 responden. Distribusi nilai OSCE didominasi oleh nilai A. Terdapat asosiasi antara kecerdasan emosional dan performa OSCE, meskipun berhubungan lemah (τ = -0.034, p = 0.784). Hubungan antara ego strength dan performa OSCE menunjukkan korelasi lemah positif (τ = 0.126, p = 0.314). Kesimpulan : Hubungan yang ditemukan bersifat korelatif, bukan sebab-akibat. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa kecerdasan emosional dan ego strength memiliki peran dalam performa OSCE, tetapi pengaruhnya tidak signifikan.

Background: Academic stress is correlated with mental health disorders such as depression and anxiety, as well as physical and academic issues. Medical students are particularly vulnerable to elevated stress levels due to their heavy academic workloads, intense competition, and long study hours. Exams like OSCE, which assess students' clinical skills also contribute to stress, impacting both emotions and performance. A crucial factor in coping with these exams is ego strength and emotional intelligence. Among fifth-semester medical students, stress levels increase due to substantial academic burdens, high credit loads, inadequate learning facilities, and the demands of completing a final project. Objective: This study aims to investigate the relationship between ego strength and emotional intelligence and their impact on clinical skills performance in the Immunohematology block among preclinical medical students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya for the 2024/2025 academic year. Methods: This study employs a quantitative research design with an observational analytic framework and a cross-sectional approach. Academic stress was measured with MMPI-1, while emotional intelligence with TEIQue-SF. The study population consisted of all preclinical medical students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Surabaya in 2022, totaling 94 students, with a minimum sample 49 students. The sampling technique utilized was total sampling. Results: Most respondents exhibited low levels of ego strength, with 44 respondents. The majority demonstrated moderate levels of emotional intelligence, with 51 respondents. The distribution of OSCE scores was predominantly grade A. An association was found between emotional intelligence and OSCE performance, although the relationship was weak (τ = - 0.034, p = 0.784). Additionally, the relationship between ego strength and OSCE performance revealed a weak positive correlation (τ = 0.126, p = 0.314). Conclusion: The relationships identified in this study were correlational rather than causal. These findings suggest that emotional intelligence and ego strength contribute to OSCE performance; however, their influence is not statistically significant.
