Abstract

Sektor transportasi darat, khususnya angkutan barang menggunakan truk, memiliki peran strategis dalam distribusi logistik dan pertumbuhan ekonomi. Namun, ketidaksesuaian antara muatan aktual dengan batas daya angkut seringkali menimbulkan kerusakan infrastruktur jalan dan penurunan keselamatan berkendara. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis metode perhitungan daya angkut serta mengkaji pengaruh berat kendaraan, jenis kendaraan, dan jarak titik tengah muatan ke sumbu satu terhadap Muatan Sumbu Terberat (MST) dan daya angkut pada truk Mitsubishi FE 73.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan studi kasus pada 10 unit truk Mitsubishi FE 73, yang terdiri dari lima truk bak terbuka dan lima truk bak tertutup. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui pengukuran dimensi kendaraan, penimbangan berat sumbu, serta pencatatan spesifikasi teknis di UPT Pengujian Kendaraan Bermotor Kabupaten Malang. Perhitungan daya angkut dilakukan menggunakan dua pendekatan, yaitu metode empiris berdasarkan regulasi pemerintah dan metode teoritis menggunakan prinsip statika untuk menentukan distribusi beban sumbu.
Kesimpulan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa berat kosong kendaraan dan jenis karoseri berpengaruh signifikan terhadap daya angkut; kendaraan yang lebih ringan memiliki kapasitas muatan yang lebih besar. Selain itu, posisi titik tengah muatan terbukti memengaruhi distribusi beban sumbu dan nilai MST. Secara keseluruhan, perhitungan daya angkut yang akurat sangat krusial untuk menjamin keselamatan operasional, menjaga umur infrastruktur jalan, dan memastikan kepatuhan terhadap regulasi teknis yang berlaku.

The land transportation sector, particularly freight transport using trucks, plays a strategic role in logistics distribution and economic growth. However, discrepancies between actual loads and allowable capacities often lead to road infrastructure damage and reduced driving safety. This study aims to analyze load capacity calculation methods and examine the effects of vehicle weight, vehicle type, and the distance from the load’s center point to the first axle on the Heaviest Axle Load (HAL) and load capacity in Mitsubishi FE 73 trucks.
A quantitative research approach was employed with a case study involving ten Mitsubishi FE 73 trucks, consisting of five open-bed and five closed-body models. Data collection included vehicle dimension measurement, axle-weight recording, and technical specification documentation carried out at the UPT Motor Vehicle Testing Unit in Malang Regency. Load capacity was calculated using two methods: an empirical approach based on government regulations and a theoretical approach utilizing statics principles to derive axle load distribution.
The results indicated that the vehicle's unladen weight and body type significantly affect load capacity, where lighter vehicles allow for higher payloads. Furthermore, the position of the load’s center point influences axle load distribution and HAL values. Overall, accurate load capacity calculation is essential to ensure operational safety, prolong road infrastructure service life, and maintain compliance with technical regulations.
